Volunteer
Volunteer Abroad as an NTA intern - apply now!
As the NTA is run almost entirely by volunteers, there are always new ways you can get involved and help to make a difference, whatever particular skills you may possess - IT, event coordination, media, photography, public presentations, translations, etc. Even if you don't feel like you have anything unique to offer, we highly encourage you to come along to a monthly meeting of the Membership and Marketing Committee to have a chat with us. If you'd like to know more please contact us.
Volunteer Positions
Applications for the following positions close at 5pm on Friday 7 October 2011.
Fundraising and Event Management
Over the years of the NTA's operation there have been a number of successful fundraisers, some held officially by members of the NTA and some by members of the general public keen to lend a hand. The goal of these fundraisers is to raise awareness of the poverty in eastern Indonesia and the NTA's efforts to alleviate it through local projects, while raising the money to get these projects off the ground.
So if you're passionate about the issues facing residents of Nusa Tenggara Timur, you can help simply by spreading the word - to your friends, family, school, workmates - or by running an event in your town. Some examples of past successes include:
- Head shaving: Konrad Wallace shaved his head in early 2010 to benefit the NTA, raising over $1300 for NTT villages
- Festival Indonesia: Run annually by the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra, this celebration of Indonesian culture has repeatedly proven to be a great day out for the whole family. The NTA runs a stall here, and in 2009 raised over $900 through the efforts of volunteers
- Fyshwick stall: Yearly fundraising stall held at the Fyshwick markets; in 2009 raised over $1500
- Narrabundah UN Day '08: Following a visit by John Bowden (NTA member), Narrabundah College decided to donate the profits - around $2000 - of its annual multicultural fundraising day to the NTA
